LEARN ABOUT THE ROHINGYA MUSLIMS

At the end of 2017, nearly a million Rohingya Muslims have been displaced from their province in Myanmar to countries such as India, Thailand, and Bangladesh. More are on the way. The Rohingya Muslims have faced persecution, oppression, and disregard at all levels of life in Myanmar. With citizenship rights denied and any attempt at development blocked, the Rohingya have been in a vulnerable position all this time. This is what the Myanmar military has taken advantage of in performing raids and destroying the villages and lives of the Rohingya people.

This current exodus is not the first time the Rohingya have been forced to flee from Myanmar, but it is the largest amount in such a short amount of time. This has led to overcrowding within the refugee camp throughout East Asia. Overall, there is a lack of food, security, and opportunity. As well, rising numbers and an overwhelming call for repatriation has made the condition in these camps increasingly unsafe. While the situation is still developing, any aid possible is necessary to provide for the increasing number of Rohingya refugees.
